Individual Therapy

Tweens. Teens. Young adults. Adults.
If you’re looking for some dedicated space
and time to talk about what’s not working
in your life, this is for you!

Perhaps you need a place to talk it out. Maybe there is healing to do from past wounds. Is it hard to be in your body? Do you struggle with identifying and sharing your emotional experience with others…or do your emotions drive the bus such that you are carried away or even out of control?

Let’s talk about what makes you uniquely you and the values you hold dear so you can stand tall in your truth with authenticity.

  • I believe in you - - your abilities and good intentions, your desire to grow, and your worth. In my work, I seek to understand and support you, recognizing that you are the expert in your life. My goal is to empower you, lending my expertise and my belief in you when you need it. I don’t have all the answers or a magic bag of tricks, but in our work you may discover that YOU do. Together we will find and amplify your own strengths and skills to handle whatever life throws at you with courage and authenticity.

  • My approach is founded largely in the work of Virginia Satir. I am inspired by authenticity and helping you embrace your true self. I want you to live the life you want to live instead of the one expected of you; be the person you were born to be instead of the one you were trained to be by family, by society, or by beliefs that do not have your best interest at heart. While we explore the past events that brought you here, we work with what’s in the room today. We follow the threads of distress to the “nugget” and discover how beliefs and feelings impact you, identifying what is in your way or no longer serves you.

  • Who are you? What is important to you? How do you see yourself vs. how others see you? The answers to these questions are informed by and sometimes contribute to the formation of your identities. Race, culture, gender, sexuality, faith, age, finances, disability or differences, marginalization, the various social roles or positions you hold in your world…herein lies the power to better understand yourself and determine your true self

Relational Therapy

Couples. Parent-Child. Siblings. Besties.
It’s all connection to me.

Use this time to hash out a specific disagreement or a long-held point of pain. Learn how to communicate in a different way to facilitate future difficult conversations. Develop a unified approach to a scary or dissatisfying aspect of your relationship, whether it is feeling disconnected, difficulty expressing your needs and wants, preparing your teen for life as an adult, or just exploring the relationship you want with your person.

It’s your time together.
Let’s use it to make things better.

  • With dyads of any kind, I often use EFT to find a better way for them to interact around unmet needs and expectations and the feelings that are fueling the felt disconnection.

  • I find the tenets of Gottman helpful for some of my couples to explore their Sound Relationship House and the areas of strength and opportunity in their life together.

  • For mixed-agenda couples, where one person is “one foot out the door” and the other is searching for a thread to hold it all together, I offer Discernment Counseling to help you find clarity and understanding of how you got here and determine your next steps together with intention and confidence.

Sex Therapy

Desire Discrepancy. Sexual Functioning. Changing Bodies. Attraction & Identity.

It’s uncomfortable to broach these subjects in the company of most people, and I’ve got you! This is your brave, safe space to explore your concerns and questions about sexuality. No shock. No shame.

“Let’s talk about sex, baby” - Salt-n-Pepa

  • It is common for couples to encounter a time in their relationship when sex is an issue. Maybe one of you wants it more than the other. Maybe things aren’t working like they used to. Maybe they never worked that well to begin with. Sex isn’t just a physical stimulus-response thing. It’s about connection…and stimulation of the mind, heart, and body. I’m here to help bridge the gap through talk therapy and consensual conversation.

  • A variety of issues can impact sexual functioning including emotional/mental barriers and physical/biological obstacles. These can come from past negative experiences, cultural messages about sexuality, relational issues, medical conditions, anxiety, shame and more. We will look at a variety of influences to identify how they are affecting your intimate experience and what can be done to promote a pleasurable, healthy, consensual sex life.

  • Bodies come in many shapes and sizes, and sex comes in many flavors and varieties. We are born sexual beings, and we have autonomy to decide when, where, and how we wish to express or share our sexuality. Sometimes those boundaries are violated (this is NEVER your fault!) and sometimes people “yuck” other people’s “yum”.

In my practice, I destigmatize sex, empower you to talk about when you’ve been disempowered, and help you define pleasure and sexual identity on your terms.

Fees

My fees are calculated off of my hourly rate. As is common in the helping field, I define an hour as 50 minutes.

  • $135 for 50-minute session

  • $215 for 80-minute session

  • $270 for 110-minute session

Please note that I require 24-hours notice of cancellation or there will be a late cancel/no-show fee equal to the cost of the session. A good faith estimate of expected charges is available upon scheduling a session or request.

Insurance

I do not bill or accept payment from any insurance plans, for a few reasons including:

  • Your privacy – when services are billed through insurance, insurance companies have access to your records.

  • Discretion with diagnoses – insurance companies require a diagnosis for reimbursement. Not all people attending therapy meet criteria for a clinical diagnosis, such as relationship issues, self-exploration, personal growth, and communication skills.

  • Your autonomy – insurance companies dictate session frequency and length as well as sometimes the type of therapy I provide.

I am happy to provide a receipt (called a superbill) that you can give to your insurance company for possible reimbursement through out-of-network coverage. I cannot, however, guarantee reimbursement. If this is of interest to you, please inquire directly with your carrier to confirm coverage and the reimbursement process/requirements.
